Russell signs to play college basketball after missing senior season due to injury

BLAKELY, Ga. (WALB) – In her junior year Early County Bobcats standout Jacorra Russell was named first-team All-Region and earned Region 1A Division II Player of the Year. Her summer took an unexpected turn when she sustained a torn ACL that would force her to miss her senior season.

Last month we spotlighted the Bobcats senior night where with the blessing of her surgeon, parents, and coaches, she was given the chance to step onto the court for a brief but emotional one minute and thirty seconds of play.

She capped off her short appearance with a three-pointer, a steal and a layup and now Russell overcoming the obstacles has committed to join Hollins University in Virginia.

Russell’s ability never in question, she checks all the boxes and her will to come back from the injury was the final piece. She’s back and now ready to shine at the next level.

Congratulations to Russell on signing her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career.
