Rutgers Football Lands 3 Star Offensive Tackle Tyrell Simpson

Rutgers has once again reached into their growing North Carolina pipeline to grab a prospect, this time landing a commitment from three star offensive lineman Tyrell Simpson.

Simpson is a 6-foot-7, 310 recruit who plays his high school ball for North Brunswick High School in Leland, NC. He hails from a family full of college football athletes as his father played defensive end for Maryland and his older brother played linebacker for Duke.

Simpson is the fifth offensive lineman to join the Knights in this recruiting cycle and the second from North Carolina. Both he and fellow North Carolina OL commit Donovan Johnson are evidence of a new Rutgers recruiting pipeline opening up in the state, largely courtesy of tight ends coach Scott Valone. The other three offensive linemen in the class are Tyler Duell from Pennsylvania, Cameron Greene from New Jersey, and Jared Smith from Georgia.

Simpson chose to commit to Rutgers despite having offers from Florida, Kentucky, and Virginia Tech.

After his senior season, he plans to enroll early at Rutgers.

The Knights now have a top-25 recruiting class in the nation for 2026, according to both 247 and Rivals.
