Florida State’s own Alex Lodise has been named one of D1Baseball’s top 50 collegiate shortstops, and he’s not just in the top 50; he’s the No. 1 player at the position.
Lodise has been on a tear this season, fielding 96.9% of all opposing hits and averaging a .436 on-base percentage, which has helped the Seminoles achieve a 34-10 record overall and a 14-7 record in the ACC. In the series versus the Clemson Tigers, he set season highs in assists, home runs, and runs scored, with five, two, and four, respectively. His 4.18 wins above replacement also helps out with that, too.
In 2024, Lodise was named the 37th-best shortstop in the nation by D1Baseball midseason. He was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll. Before Florida State, he was a unanimous Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman selection at North Florida.
Florida State will travel to Berkeley for a three-game series versus the California Golden Bears starting on May 9 and seek to improve upon their chances of making it to the College World Series. The Seminoles are currently atop the ACC standings and are looking to win their first regular-season championship since 2012.
