Sencaj named East Regional Hitter of the Week by NCBWA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brendan Sencaj’s historical week culminated with being named the East Region Hitter of the Week by the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

During Bentley’s monstrous 26-12 win over Georgian Corut (March 11), Sencaj tied Bentley’s single-game records for home runs (3) and extra-base hits (4). He also set the school records for most RBI (9) and most total bases (15) in a game.

One of Sencaj’s three homers was a grand slam – his second of the season. That already ties him for the most grand slams in a Bentley season.

A few days later, Bentley hosted Assumption for the first Northeast-10 series of the season. Sencaj delivered a walk-off single in the first game of the series. Through four games against Assumption, Sencaj hit .467 with six runs scored and four RBI.

Overall this season, Sencaj ranks sixth in the NE10 for hitting (.398), first in runs (25), first in RBI (38), first in total bases (61), and seventh in slugging (.693).

Bentley, which is ranked No. 25 in this week’s NCBWA national poll, continues its NE10 schedule with doubleheaders at Pace (March 22) and at Adelphi (March 23) this weekend.
