MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The National Awards Committee and Small College Basketball releases its Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday afternoon. Listed among the 100 players across the NCAA Division III landscape is Wesleyan men’s basketball senior guard Shane Regan ’25.
The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.
In the midst of another stellar campaign, Regan is leading the undefeated and No. 5 ranked Wesleyan team in scoring while he ranks second on the team in rebounding, assists, steals, shooting, and minutes. One season removed from leading the NESCAC in scoring, Regan is averaging 16.8 points per game on 51.7 percent shooting and 85.3 percent from the free throw line. He averages 5.6 rebounds per game, 3.4 assists, and 0.9 steals in 26.3 minutes.
Through 15 games played this season, Regan has scored double figures in 13 of them including 20+ points six times. He has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in 8-of-15 games while he put up 21 points in each of the first two NESCAC games this season, with the totals coming in home wins over Williams and Middlebury last weekend. Regan’s best game of the season came in a win in Florida over Wentworth where he posed 25 points (11-16 FG), with 12 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in just 26 minutes for his first career double-double.
On February 15, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15, the Top 25 players will be announced. On April 5, the finalists of this year’s award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 7.
