Shedeur Sanders has no shortage of confidence in himself to make an immediate difference for an NFL franchise.
That could be the Pittsburgh Steelers, who hosted Sanders for a pre-draft visit on Thursday.
Pittsburgh, which went 10-7 in 2024, is slightly different from the other teams considering Sanders. The Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants are all coming off subpar seasons.
Sanders is no stranger to turning around a program. Colorado was a 1-11 team when he came in as quarterback before the 2023 season, and in two seasons with Sanders at quarterback, they made strides, winning four games in 2023 and nine games in 2024.
So, what could he do with a ten-win team that boasts superstars across the team?
The sky might be the limit. Sanders said it is up to other teams not to make the mistake of letting him land with the Steelers, where he feels he can do instant damage in the NFL.
“That’s on the people,” Sanders said to Kay Adams. “That’s on the other franchises that could make that mistake of letting me go there.”
Sanders is one of four quarterbacks that has met with the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart visited last week, and early in March, the Steelers hosted Louisville’s Tyler Shough. Syracuse’s Kyle McCord is scheduled to visit next week.
Sanders is the brightest star of those names, as the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, and is likely to be the first player off the board. The question remains if he makes it to 21 after once being considered a top-five draft pick.
