Shedeur Sanders to Steelers? Pittsburgh lands top-3 QB in latest NFL mock draft

Sorry, Aaron Rodgers, while you could sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the future may belong to Shedeur Sanders—at least according to CBS Sports’ latest mock draft.

With Justin Fields signing with the New York Jets on a two-year, $40 million contract and Russell Wilson likely headed to the Giants or Browns, there is an obvious hole at the quarterback position. Rodgers—or even Rudolph—are likely stopgaps between the next great Black and Gold signal-caller, and Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports took that into consideration when making his latest 2025 NFL mock draft.

According to Stackpole, Sanders will slide out of the top 10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft and fall into the lap of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here is what he had to say about the Steel City selecting Sanders:

“Shedeur Sanders doesn’t have the ceiling of Cam Ward, but he’s as tough as they come and makes the right decisions—two traits that could lead to success with Pittsburgh.”

If Sanders falls to the 21st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, can the Steelers truly afford to ignore their biggest need on the roster—the defensive line—to select the standout Colorado Buffaloes QB?
