Six Broncs players sign to play college baseball

KREMLIN, Okla. — College baseball is a goal for high school athletes, and six Kremlin-Hillsdale players made that commitment.

Colton Aebi, Maddox Allison, Braden Germundson, Nik Ramos, Van Schultz and Jackson Stewart all signed letters of intent Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, to take the next steps in their careers.

Kremlin-Hillsdale coach Garan Qualls said it’s amazing to see the hard work pay off for his players.

“It’s just exciting,” Qualls said. “I’m happy and proud of them. Proud of each one of these kids. They get to fulfill that dream and the opportunity to go compete at the next level.”

Maddox Allison, who Qualls called the “spark plug” of the Broncs, signed with Oklahoma Christian University.

Allison said there were several reasons that led him to choose the Eagles.

“They just have an amazing baseball team,” Allison said. “I just love what Coach (Lonny) Cobble brought to the table. How forward he was with me. What he was expecting, and what it would look like.”

Aebi signed with Oklahoma Wesleyan University. He said it was awesome to get to share this moment with his teammates.

“Most bigger schools don’t have this many kids sign,” Aebi said. “This is pretty special for a small town like this.”

Schultz decided to stay in the area, choosing to sign with NOC Enid. Schultz went to an inter-squad scrimmage in the fall, and he said he felt like he was a part of the team.

“The atmosphere there was great,” Schultz said. “The guys were all competing for spots. It’s cutthroat, but they were also having a great time. It just seemed like a great atmosphere.”

Ramos is going the farthest to play college baseball — he chose Missouri Valley College. He said the interest the school had from the start was the deciding factor in his decision.

“It’s really because they wanted me,” Ramos said. “That’s the goal. My dad always said, ‘Go where you’re wanted.’ No matter the drive and how hard it is, you just have to keep going.”

Germundson signed with Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He said the school is perfect.

“It’s not too big, but it’s not too small,” Germundson said. “The community was very nice. It’s just a nice college.”

Stewart signed with Eastern Oklahoma State College. He said his college experience will help him reach bigger goals in his career.

“It’s a stepping stone to get where I want to go,” Stewart said. “I want to go to a power five school later on. Just, get an education and play ball.”

All of the players had the same mindset heading into the spring season. They want to get to the state tournament and take home the state title.
