One of the metro area’s most dynamic girls players is staying home to play college basketball.
On Monday, Southridge’s Sara Mangan announced that she is committing to the University of Portland.
Mangan was the Metro League Player of the Year in the 2024-25 season and was also a second team all-state selection.
She helped lead the Skyhawks to a 20-9 record this winter, winning the Metro League outright and taking the No. 7 seed in the state tournament. Southridge fell to Willamette in the quarterfinals and finished the season with a sixth-place trophy.
The Pilots are coming off one of their most successful seasons in recent history. Portland went 31-5 in the 2024-25 basketball season, compiling a 17-3 record in West Coast Conference play.
The Pilots fell to Oregon State in the WCC championship game, then went 2-1 in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament.
