St. Mary’s College Baseball Speeds Past Notre Dame (MD)

BALTIMORE – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Baseball Team (6-11) traveled to the Charm City for a United East Conference matchup with Notre Dame (MD) (5-19). The Seahawks defeated the Gators 13-7  

How It Happened 

  • The Seahawks came out of the gates hot, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. George Berbakos scored two runs on an RBI double, while Trevor Smith doubled the next at bat to score another runner. St. Mary’s concluded their scoring in the inning when Adrian Auber hit into a fielder’s choice and Ian Walters scored from third. 
  • St. Mary’s added two more runs in the top of the second after a Cole Tarleton triple. 
  • Eli Shafer got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the third inning to give St. Mary’s a 7-1 lead. 
  • The Gators scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to cut into the Seahawk lead. 
  • The Seahawks kept responding, as they knocked in a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning. George Berbakos doubled to score Cole Tarleton from third after he tripled earlier in the inning. Trevor Smith later grounded out to first base, which allowed George Berbakos to score.
  • Adrian Auber knocked a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to give the Seahawks a 10-5 lead. 
  • Notre Dame added two runs in the bottom of the sixth. 
  • Eli Shafer came through with a clutch RBi single in the top of the eighth inning that scored two insurance runs for St. Mary’s. 
  • St. Mary’s scored one more run in the top of the ninth inning on their way to a 13-7 victory.
