Star New Jersey high school hoops player arrested over recruiting…

A star New Jersey boys high school basketball player was arrested Tuesday at St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City as a “fugitive from justice” for an alleged forcible rape during a September recruiting visit to the University of Missouri, according to NJ.com.

Keiner Asprilla, a junior and the No. 50 recruit in the class of 2026 according to 247 Sports, is alleged to have committed rape on Sept. 20 as a 17-year-old while being hosted by the school, per the report.

Police officers told the publication they responded to a sexual assault report in Columbia on Oct. 8, and he reportedly is expected to be extradited to Missouri “in the coming days.”

“The safety of our campus community is of great importance,” University of Missouri spokesperson Christopher Ave told NJ.com. “We are deeply concerned about these serious allegations. This alleged off-campus incident did not involve any of our students, and it was reported to the Columbia Police Department. We do not have sufficient information to comment further.”

Asprilla is a Colombia native and the center is listed as a four-star recruit. This season marks his first with St. Peter’s after he transferred last offseason from Don Bosco Prep.

He posted to Instagram on Sept. 8 a photo of the Missouri logo while announcing he had received an offer from the program.

“Im blessed and grateful to recieve (sic) my 10th offer from the University of Missouri all is great with God by my side 🙏🏿💛🖤,” Asprilla wrote.

A little more than two weeks later, he posted a collage of photos from the visit, including several with Tigers head coach Dennis Gates.

The prep star’s photos included Oscar Ruiz, whom he lives with in North Bergen but Ruiz did not respond to contact attempts by the publication.

“MIZZOU Whats up ?🐯 #notcommited #officialvisit,” Asprilla captioned the post.

St. Peter’s Prep officials reportedly told their fans to ignore “the ridiculous chants.”

He averages 16.1 points and 10 rebounds per game, per a game log.
