Syracuse men’s basketball adds in-state foe in non-conference game (report)

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse men’s basketball team will play in-state opponent Binghamton in a non-conference game next season, according to a report by CBS Sports college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein.

Rothstein reported that the Orange will host the Bearcats.

Syracuse has played Binghamton five times in school history, winning all five by at least 20 points.

Binghamton finished 15-17 last season, going 7-9 in the America East Conference. The Bearcats were ranked No. 320 in the country (out of 364 teams) by Ken Pomeroy.

They are coached by Levell Sanders, who is entering his fifth season.

In all four of his previous years, Sanders has coached Binghamton to a league record within one game of .500. He has never had a winning record overall.

Nearly all of the key players from that Binghamton team are gone, either to graduation or transfer.

The Bearcats have attempted to reload by adding transfers from LaSalle, Buffalo and Georgia Mason.

The ACC recently decided to decrease its conference schedule by two games, dropping from 20 to 18, meaning Syracuse will have 13 non-conference games.

Other non-conference games for Syracuse that have already been reported include a home game against Tennessee in the ACC-SEC Challenge, three games in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas and a game against Mercyhurst.

Syracuse’s ACC schedule next year will include:

Home games: California, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, SMU and Virginia Tech.

Road games: Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Wake Forest.

The time and dates of Syracuse’s games have not been announced.
