Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse women’s basketball team will play in the 12th annual Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase next season and could meet defending national champion UConn in the event’s championship game.
The Hall of Fame announced the four-team field for its 12th edition of the event on Tuesday.
Syracuse will meet Michigan in the first round, while UConn will face Utah. The winners will meet in the championship game and the losers will meet in the third-place game.
The first set of games will be played on November 21, with the second set being played two days later.
Michigan went 23-11 last season and earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament. Utah went 22-9 and earned a No. 9 seed.
Syracuse performed the worst of the four teams last year, finishing 12-18 and missing the postseason.
The games will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville, Connecticut. The event is held annually and traditionally includes UConn and a variety of other programs.
The last time the Orange faced UConn was in the second round of the 2024 NCAA tournament. The Huskies won 72-64.
Syracuse has faced Michigan five times and lost all five. The most recent meeting came in 2019.
