Tennessee baseball took over the No. 1 ranking in the nation in the USA TODAY coaches poll Monday. The Vols started the season 7-0, while preseason No. 1 Texas A&M lost 3-2 to Cal Poly on Sunday for its first loss. The Aggies are 5-1.
LSU and Arkansas are Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. No. 7 Florida and No. 8 Georgia are the other SEC teams in the top-10.
The Vols have started their defense of last season’s national title impressively. They are outscoring opponents 98-11 through seven games with five run-rule victories in seven innings.

UT hosts North Alabama on Tuesday before playing in the Astros Foundation College Classic against Oklahoma State on Friday, Rice on Saturday and Arizona on Sunday.
