Texas A&M, Tennessee, & LSU headline the college baseball preseason coaches poll

As spring approaches so does the upcoming 2025 college baseball season. Last year’s campaign ended with an SEC showdown in Omaha, Nebraska, at the College World Series between the Texas A&M Aggies and Tennessee Volunteers. Those two teams represent the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in this year’s preseason coaches poll.

The Aggies will be under new leadership as Jim Schlossnagle left to join the Texas Longhorns and his former athletic director from TCU, Chris Del Conte. Originally he was set to bring hitting coach Michael Earley along but ultimately chose to take the Aggies head coaching vacancy. It was a fascinating new twist in the Texas-A&M rivalry.

Last year’s national champions, the Tennessee Vols will start the year as the second-best team in the country, at least according to the polls. The Vols should be a formidable opponent for anyone who shares the diamond with them this season. In all, the SEC accounted for six of the top 10 spots in the poll. The ACC accounted for three of the remaining spots and Oregon State is representing the Pac-12 as the only other team in the top 10.

The SEC leads all conferences with 11 teams among the top 25. The ACC comes in second with seven teams. The Big 12 has three teams and the Big Ten with just one team. Check out the full preseason poll as voted on by the coaches.
