Texas baseball will enter the 2025 NCAA baseball tournament with a chip on its shoulder.
Sure, the Longhorns earned the No. 2 national seed in the tournament and are heavily favored to return to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, for the first time since 2022. But Texas, in its first year in the SEC, felt it was worthy of a the No. 1 overall seed.
The Longhorns open the Austin Regional against Houston Christian on Friday with a chance to send a message to the committee. Texas last won a national championship in 2015, but a decade later it is poised to make a deep run.
Texas is 155-59-1 in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament, which includes an 87-22 record in Austin.
