The Athletic college baseball Top 25: Tennessee jumps to No. 1 after dominant weekend

There is a new No. 1 team in college baseball.

The Tennessee Volunteers, largely untested as they cruised to an 8-0 record to start the season, flexed their muscles over the weekend by sweeping through the Astros Foundation College Classic in Houston with wins over Oklahoma State, Rice and Arizona by a combined score of 23-6.

The former No. 1 team, Texas A&M, stumbled through a 1-3 week, losing at home to Texas State before going 1-2 in Houston with losses to Arizona and Oklahoma State and a win over Rice.

College baseball week in review: Oklahoma keeps rolling, Clemson sweeps South Carolina

Wake Forest, not A&M, had the biggest tumble this week, dropping from No. 11 to No. 22. That might seem a bit harsh for a week in which the Deacons went 3-2, but Wake has only one win over a team with a winning record (Maryland, 6-5) and lost to previously winless Princeton over the weekend.

There are three new teams in the rankings this week: Ole Miss (No. 15), Auburn (No. 20) and Troy (No. 25).
