The uncomfortable reality Mark Vientos is chasing again after Mets…

PORT ST. LUCIE — A star was being born last October despite heavy restlessness, bordering on sleeplessness. Mark Vientos’ revelatory regular season was merely a nice warmup for what was to come in October, when he rode anxiety and adrenaline to solidify his name in Mets lore in one month — one glorious month.

We recall Vientos tearing his way through the Mets’ nemeses of the National League, doing big damage as the upstart, big-market Mets outlasted a perennial thorn (the Brewers) and hated antagonist (the Phillies) before taking the eventual champion Dodgers to six games in the NLCS. But what we didn’t know is that Vientos wasn’t sleeping, and occasionally barely breathing. He was that hyped up.

“I was super nervous. Every day I would wake up like three, four in the morning in a cold sweat,” Vientos told The Post. “I was just super anxious, super nervous.”

That doesn’t sound like much fun to most of us. But Vientos was loving every minute.
