CINCINNATI — Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby looks healthy and dialed in for his second season at the helm of the offense. The veteran took command of his leadership role and recruited multiple eventual transfer Bearcats this offseason after he never waivered in wanting to stay at UC.
He spoke to the media after practice on Saturday about staying loyal to Cincinnati.
“There was no temptation,” Sorsby said about leaving. “I was staying here the whole time. We were so close to being so good last year, I just had a chip on my shoulder to come back and prove that, you know, we could be what we thought we were going to be last year, and even better than that.
“We got to attack it one game at a time, one day at a time throughout the rest of spring ball, throughout the summer, throughout fall camp, into the season, and just see where we end up in December, January and all that. Just one day at a time, and see what we do.”
The dual-threat weapon ranked 29th nationally in ESPN’s QBR metric after passing for 2,813 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2024. He also ran for 445 yards on 4.2 yards per carry (impressive when accounting for 17 sacks) and nine touchdowns.
The majority of those interceptions happened to close the season (five in the final seven games).
“Taking care of the ball,” Sorsby said. “Obviously, thought I did a pretty good job of that until late last year. And then I would just say, just continue to make the right decisions as well and be more accurate, and try to be more precise with the ball.”
