Three must-start fantasy basketball players for Monday 3/10/25 NBA slate

Alex Hunter dives into tonight’s NBA 10-game main slate to find three players you need to have in your DraftKings lineups.

DraftKings’ main slate for Monday includes the first 10 games of the night. Below, I dive into three of my favorite DFS options to consider for tonight’s NBA action.

PG, Luka Doncic, Los Angeles Lakers at Brooklyn Nets, $12,000

While Doncic (back) is officially questionable, the guard feels likely to play Monday. The Lakers will be without LeBron James (groin), but they are a still a 6.5-point favorite over the Nets on DraftKings Sportsbook, which means the oddsmakers believe Doncic will play through his questionable tag. If that is the case, he will be the No.1 option on the slate.

On top of James, Los Angeles will also be without Rui Hachimura (knee), leaving Doncic with a godly role as the Lakers’ clear top option. In the 71 minutes the guard has played with both James and Hachimura off the floor since joining the Lakers, Doncic is generating a whopping 2.0 FPTS per minute, thanks to his usage jumping 14.5 percentage points to an absurd 49% and his assist rate skyrocketing 23.3 percentage points to an eye-popping 61%. The Nets rank 26th in defensive rating since the All-Star break, and Doncic will have the highest ceiling on the slate in this juicy spot if he suits up as expected. Plus, there is a chance that the initial questionable tag could scare some DFS players off Doncic and lower his ownership in GPPs.

PG, Tre Jones, Chicago Bulls vs. Indiana Pacers, $4,800

With Ayo Dosunmu (out, shoulder) and Lonzo Ball (doubtful, wrist) remaining out tonight, Jones is a great value play. The veteran has started in three straight games with both Dosunmu and Ball sidelined. With the starting job, Jones has scored over 30 FPTS in each of these past three contests. The guard has logged over 30 minutes in all three of these starts, and Jones should continue to see heavy volume Monday in this strong matchup vs. the Pacers, who rank 10th in pace and 20th in defensive efficiency this season.

This game’s total is the second-highest on the slate at 242.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook, and Jones should eclipse 30 FPTS for the fourth game in a row in this elite environment. This season, Jones is generating 1.0 FPTS per minute.

SG, Lonnie Walker, Philadelphia 76ers at Atlanta Hawks, $3,600

With Joel Embiid (knee), Tyrese Maxey (back), and Paul George (groin) out, and Kelly Oubre Jr., Quentin Grimes, and Guershchon Yabusele seeing limited work last night vs. the Jazz, Walker saw a featured role and flourished. In 34 minutes and with a 25% usage rate, Walker erupted for 50.25 FPTS. With Philadelphia clearly tanking as the season winds down, Walker should continue to handle huge workloads on a nightly basis.

It was reported Sunday that Oubre Jr., Grimes and Yabusele will see their minutes monitored for the rest of the season. Both Embiid and George will remain out Monday. Maxey was deemed questionable by 76ers’ HC Nick Nurse on Sunday, but even if Maxey does suit up Monday, it’s hard to imagine he plays much, given Maxey is coming off an injury and that Philadelphia has a clear plan to limit their top player’s minutes going forward. All in all, Walker should see a large role that is clearly not reflected in his current salary. This is an elite matchup vs. the Hawks, who ranks second in pace and 21st in defensive efficiency this season. In this situation, Walker should destroy his near minimum price tag and is a must-play.
