Three must-start fantasy basketball players for Saturday 3/29/25 NBA slate

Zach Thompson dives into tonight’s NBA six-game main slate to find three players you need to have in your DraftKings lineups.

With a dozen teams taking the floor, there are plenty of strong options to consider as you start to build your rosters for Saturday night’s main NBA DFS slate. While there are good options at multiple spots, a few stand out above the rest. As you get your lineups finalized, make sure to include these three NBA must-start plays. Based on their matchup, expected workload and recent form, they should be set for success this Saturday.

C Alexandre Sarr, Washington Wizards vs. Brooklyn Nets, $6,600

The Wizards have been a mess since the NBA trade deadline and have constantly been shuffling pieces around in their rotation, making them hard to trust for fantasy lineups. However, the one consistent piece in their lineup has been Sarr, who has been getting plenty of playing time as the No. 2 pick in last year’s draft.

At just 19, he’s posting outstanding numbers and quickly growing into one of the fastest-rising potential stars in the league after another big, young Frenchman made waves last season. While he isn’t at Victor Wembanyama’s level quite yet, he has averaged 18.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 blocks per game over his last 13 contests while producing 35.9 fantasy points per contest.

Sarr had 22 points and 35.25 fantasy points against the Pacers on Thursday and has over 32 fantasy points in three straight games and eight of his last nine.

The Nets ruled out both Nic Claxton (rest) and Day’Ron Sharpe (knee) for Saturday’s game, leaving Sarr without much opposition from Brooklyn. He could be poised for an absolute monster game and should at least return value at this very affordable midrange salary.

PG/SG Stephon Castle, San Antonio Spurs vs. Boston Celtics, $6,600

Another rookie stepping up lately has been Stephon Castle for the Spurs. Since they lost De’Aaron Fox to injury, the team has started Castle in eight straight games. The former UConn Huskie averaged 33.0 fantasy points per game in those starts, producing 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.6 minutes per game.

In two of his last four games, Castle has shown off a very high ceiling with over 50 fantasy points. He finished with 52.25 fantasy points on a double-double with 17 points and 14 assists against the Sixers last Friday. He had another big game against the Cavs on Thursday of this week, posting a double-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 50.75 fantasy points.

Castle has a tough matchup with the Celtics, but he has a high enough ceiling that he is one of the NBA must-starts on Saturday night’s slate.

PG Davion Mitchell, Miami Heat at Philadelphia 76ers, $4,300

The Heat are in a good matchup against the Sixers, who have allowed the most points per game in the NBA over their last 10 games, giving up 125.5 points per game over that span. The Heat won’t have Andrew Wiggins (hamstring) or Duncan Robinson (back) for this contest while Alec Burks ($3,300; back) is questionable. With extra work available, Mitchell should be even more involved.

He has logged over 32 minutes in six straight contests, scoring exactly 12 points in five of those games and then bumping it up to 16 points on Thursday in his most recent game against the Hawks.

Normally, he focuses on the defensive end of the floor, which helps him turn in good non-scoring numbers. The defensive-minded guard has at least 29 fantasy points in four of his last six games, averaging 27.7 fantasy points over that span. With even more minutes and usage available in Miami’s rotation on Saturday, he has a great ceiling at just over $4,000. His high floor and high ceiling make him one of the NBA must-starts for this Saturday.
