Three Texas Longhorns baseball players enter transfer portal

After failing to advance past the NCAA Austin Regional this weekend, Texas Longhorns baseball got more bad news this week. Three players will hit the transfer portal.

Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle announced a trio of players would be hitting the portal and playing elsewhere next season. Outfielder Matt Scott, outfielder Donovan Jordan and left-handed pitcher Chance Covert will all transfer.

Only Scott played in 2025. He played in three games and went was hitless in five at bats, with one hit-by-pitch.

The Longhorns also have other holes to fill. Left-handed pitcher Jared Spencer and first baseman Kimble Schuessler are both out of eligibility. Outfielder Max Belyeu, catcher Rylan Galvan, shortstop Jalin Flores, third baseman Casey Borba and pitchers Luke Harrison and Ruger Riojas are all draft eligible.

Schlossnagle is known to be aggressive in the portal. This offseason will be no different.
