It’s hard to draw up a worse two games of the World Series for the Yankees. They return to New York in rough shape, dropping an all-time classic in Game 1, then producing a weak offensive effort in Game 2, with a last-minute rally sputtering out. This series is far from over, and I think last night’s ninth inning comeback attempt illustrates how this team will continue to fight until the bitter end. But they need to start scoring now, and it starts with getting something, anything, from their captain.
We’ll continue to lick our wounds on the site today, with Sara naming the player(s) of the game and Sam analyzing the team’s shoddy offensive performance. Later, Kevin will look back 25 years at happier times, celebrating the anniversary of the Yankees’ 25th World Series title. Matt will also remember some less-famous moments from the Yankees-Dodgers rivalry, and John delivers a Fall Classic edition of the Yankees Social Media Rundown.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Aaron Judge’s underperformance is the story of the series for the Yankees right now, but other than him, who most needs to step it up to makes this a series?
2. How would you rate your trust in the Yankee bullpen, coming off a strong performance in Game 2?
