Trio of Washington Football WR Targets Make Final Officials Before July Dead Period

The Washington Huskies‘ 2026 recruiting class still has several elite high school targets on the board, even though some still hold verbal commitments to other college football programs.

When it comes to what wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings does to secure a true outside threat in the cycle factors heavily into that mix. UW remains in pursuit of a trio of receivers that are publicly tied to other schools, four-star St. John Bosco stars Madden Williams and Daniel Odom, and four-star Auburn pledge Denairius Gray.

Williams, a Texas A&M commit, was back in College Station this weekend for his official visit to check back in with Aggies coach Mike Elko and receivers coach Holmon Wiggins, his first trip back to the Lone Star State since his first college unofficial visit in January 2022, according to On3’s visit tracker for the California native.

Gray, one of just four official visitors for UW coach Jedd Fisch and the coaching staff in late April — all of whom have either committed elsewhere or are projected to end up at a school other than Washington — during the first weekend of official visitors, made his latest trip to Ole Miss this weekend while he remains committed to Hugh Freeze and the Tigers.

Both receivers made their commitments within a week of each other over six months ago, and each have taken at least three other official visits in addition to their trip to Seattle, meaning the Huskies are still in the running for their services until either or both of their recruitments are shut down permanently.

Cummings does have a commit to his credit in the ’26 class, recent four-star addition Mason James from Norman, Oklahoma, who is expected to line up primarily in the slot once he gets on campus next year.

That means UW is still searching for a true, outside big-body receiver for sophomore Demond Williams Jr. and potentially four-star quarterback commit Derek Zammit to throw to down the line.

Similarly, the Huskies remain in contention for Odom, who made his official visit to Norman this weekend before the July recruiting dead period begins.

Unlike when Odom and Williams came up to Seattle on May 30 with their teammate, kicker pledge CJ Wallace, the duo hasn’t linked back up for a visit since their trip to the Pacific Northwest, which in itself offers a unique recruiting pitch for Fisch and Cummings.

It remains to be seen when the trio will make their respective decisions to flip to another school, whether that be to UW or another program, or elect to keep their current decision and make it final by not visiting other schools prior to the early signing period in December.

Until then, the Husky coaching staff remains on the hunt for their services.
