ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Michigan football team’s 2025 spring game takes place this weekend in Ann Arbor, giving the Wolverines their first chance to show how their new-look offense has fared this offseason. After losing its top two receivers and rushers from last season and parting ways from its offensive coordinator, Michigan is hoping to drastically improve its offense this fall and return to the College Football Playoff.
So as the Wolverines prepare for their annual Maize vs. Blue scrimmage, which players will we be watching closely to see if Michigan can follow through with that mission? Including a mix of transfers, freshmen and unproven underclassmen spanning all positions, we break down the 12 offensive players we’ll be watching the most closely in Saturday’s game, and what we’re looking to see from them.

12) Nathan Efobi, offensive guard, No. 55
It’s difficult and sometimes futile to evaluate offensive linemen too closely in a spring-game setting, but we’re suckers for a player who rewrites the narrative about them with a hard-nosed offseason. And after thinking about entering the NCAA Transfer Portal in December and seeming to be on the outside looking in of a starting job, Efobi has done that. The rising redshirt sophomore out of Atlanta has roared back, and just might be Michigan’s starting right guard if its season were to begin this weekend.
Of course, plenty of other players are making their push, too — Brady Norton, Evan Link and Blake Frazier could all slide inside, while Jake Guarnera is another name on the interior to watch — but the buzz about Efobi has caught our attention this spring. Now, we want to see what that looks like on the field as he becomes an upperclassman on the line.
