The Purdue Boilmakers were arguably the biggest disaster in the 2024 college football season, finishing 1-11.
Today, the Purdue’s future took a hit, too. Two former Georgia Bulldogs (wide receiver C.J. Smith and cornerback Nyland Green) have put their names in the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer from CBS Sports and 247Sports, respectively.
Green was a five-star recruit from the class of 2021. He committed to Georgia and spent three seasons there before entering the transfer portal in 2023. On Christmas Day, he committed to Purdue.
Green recorded 13 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in seven games with the Boilmakers, but he should get a lot of interest due to his high school pedigree.
Smith was a four-star recruit in 2022 when he signed with the Bulldogs. Smith spent two seasons in Georgia before transferring to Purdue last year.
With Purdue, Smith caught six passes for 69 yards in three games. He had more usage as a Georgia Bulldog, with six catches for 116 yards and a carry for four yards.
It’ll be interesting to see where Green and Smith end up, especially if they end up committing to the same school again. Maybe Purdue (and former Georgia receiver) De’Nylon Morrissette can join them if he enters the transfer portal. Georgia is in need of wide receivers and defensive backs.
