UCF Knights football: Scott Frost speaks on spring transfer portal
Scott Frost hopes building a strong culture, an environment players want to be in, with his coaching staff encourages UCF football players to stay.
- UCF has had 50 players drafted into the NFL since the program’s inception.
- RJ Harvey, a top prospect from UCF, is projected to be drafted anywhere from the third to fifth round.
- Several other UCF players, including Mac McWilliams, BJ Adams, and Kobe Hudson, are also expected to be drafted.
UCF’s relatively exclusive fraternity of NFL draft picks is expected to grow this weekend.
There have been 50 Knights taken in the league’s annual selection meeting since the program’s inception; Ted Wilson was the first back in 1987, and Tylan Grable is the most recent just last year. A handful of Pro Bowl-caliber players can be found in between, including Daunte Culpepper, Brandon Marshall, Josh Sitton and Asante Samuel.
RJ Harvey, UCF’s all-time touchdown record-holder, is widely viewed as the top prospect on last season’s 4-8 squad. The Orlando native followed a huge sixth-year senior campaign (1,844 scrimmage yards, 25 TDs, All-Big 12 first-team selection) with impressive showings at the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL scouting combine.
He may not be alone in hearing his name called during the seven-round draft; wide receiver Kobe Hudson and cornerbacks Mac McWilliams and BJ Adams drew plenty of eyes during the pre-draft process.
But where will they land?
The News-Journal combed through prominent national seven-round mock drafts to see when and where the draft pundits believe those four players will be picked. Here are the results:
Editor’s note: Pro Football Focus published a mock draft with 32 writers, one designated for each team.
