UL football players perform drills for NFL scouts at Ragin’ Cajuns Pro Day

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Ragin’ Cajun football players showcased their skills for NFL scouts during Pro Day at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on Monday, March 24.

Seniors demonstrated their strength, agility, and athletic ability as they aimed for a spot in the NFL.

Kicker Kenneth Almendares, the Lou Groza Award winner, felt positive about his performance.

“I think I hit the fan three times, which is good,” said Almendares. “It shows that the ball is still rising and it was down the middle.”

Almendares, known for breaking multiple team and conference records, expressed gratitude for the opportunity.

“It’s just a blessing, you know? Seven years ago, six years ago, I would have never thought I would have done this,” he added.

On defense, linebacker KC Ossai shared his experience with the drills.

“It’s more technique than speed,” said Ossai. “I mean, you are supposed to go 60% on it. My problem is I do everything 100%.”

Ossai reflected on areas for improvement.

“Everything from the bench to the jumps to my shuttles, to my 40, to my linebacker drills, everything. I still feel like I could put more out there,” he noted.

Both players hope their efforts will lead to a chance in the NFL. Almendares is open to any team that shows interest.

“Any team that wants to pick me, I’m all about,” he stated.
