UND Hockey receives two commitments from highly-touted NHL prospects

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) – According to multiple reports Friday, UND Hockey has made a splash on the recruiting trail, picking up Cole Reschny and Keaton Verhoeff, who both played for the Victoria Royals in the Western Hockey League last season.

Reschny, a forward, is expected to be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft this year.

A defenseman, Verhoeff is also a highly-touted prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft expected to go in the first round at this point.

Reschny scored 26 goals and recorded 92 points in 62 games for the Royals this season, tallying 25 points in 15 playoff games.

He also picked up eight points in five games for Team Canada in the IIHF U18 World Championship.

Verhoeff, meanwhile was a high-scoring defenseman for Victoria, scoring 21 goals and recording 45 points in 63 games.

Both Reschny and Verhoeff will join UND for the 2025-26 season.
