Tennessee baseball is hanging onto a top-25 spot as it heads into the SEC Tournament.
The Vols are ranked No. 17 in the USA TODAY coaches poll after losing a series at Arkansas to close the regular season. UT was ranked No. 1 in the nation for six weeks this season, but has been on a skid since. It has lost four straight series and five of its past six.
UT (41-15) opens the SEC Tournament against either No. 9 Alabama (40-15) or No. 16 Missouri (16-38) on Wednesday in Hoover, Alabama.
The Vols had won 12 straight SEC prior series to losing to Texas A&M, starting a rough April. They won at Ole Miss before the back-to-back series losses to Kentucky and LSU. They lost their third straight home series against Auburn and their fourth to Vanderbilt. They closed the regular season with a series loss at Arkansas.
Tennessee won its first 20 games of the season to string together a 22-game winning streak dating back to the 2024 College World Series. The Vols won the final two games in Omaha to clinch the program’s first national title.
It lost back-to-back one-run games to ETSU and Alabama in mid-March before winning eight straight.
