Updating Tennessee in college baseball polls following Kentucky series loss

Tennessee baseball dropped in the rankings after losing a series to Kentucky.

The Vols are ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY coaches poll after its second home series loss in April. UT was ranked No. 1 in the nation for six weeks this season.

UT (33-5, 12-6 SEC) lost the back two games to Kentucky, dropping 4-1 on Saturday and 8-2 on Sunday in its two lowest-scoring games this season. Tennessee lost a series to Texas A&M in early April, its first SEC series loss after winning 12 straight dating back to its first conference series in 2024 against Alabama.

Tennessee won its first 20 games of the season to string together a 22-game winning streak dating back to last season’s College World Series. The Vols won the final two games in Omaha to clinch the program’s first national title.

It lost back-to-back one-run games to ETSU and Alabama in mid-March before winning eight straight.
