It may be something of an overused cliché, particularly when used with undeserving programs. In the case of USC, however, when the Trojans are good, there is a noticeable excitement around college football. This is a historical program that truly has it all.
From past accomplishments, an iconic Coliseum setting, and a top alumni support base, USC is a titan in CFB in a way that any other school truly can’t match. With the latest win after win on the recruiting trail, many fans are understandably excited. The tenure of coach Lincoln Riley has not met expectations to this point.
With the help of GM Chad Bowden and the rest of the staff, however, there are whispers among the fan base of USC not only being back but also looking the way it did in previous eras, when there was unquestioned Trojan dominance.
There is still work to do in order to reach those previous levels again. In truth, in the current collegiate landscape, such heights may prove to be impossible to ever achieve again. Seeing the modern-day equivalent, however, would be a doable goal to strive for.
To achieve such an aim, winning in recruiting at the rate USC has been as of late is a must. Showing that the mission is far from over, many members of the staff are reportedly on a trip to Hawai’i. No, it isn’t for a vacation. Instead, they are looking to further solidify their relationship among the top recruits on our country’s island state.
Considering the continued push to lock up talent from the high school ranks and the willingness of those commitments to get in the ear of other high-level recruits, it’s safe to assume that more good news will be on the horizon for the program.
Only a matter of time for US
In an event, the wins will need to start to match the efforts and multi-star ratings of the athletes who are being brought to campus. That’s known, and that is why some will reserve judgment until there is something more tangible to point to.
Regardless, improvement has to start somewhere, and USC is going about its business the right way to not only improve the win total but also ensure that the Trojans are national players for a long time to come.
