The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and men’s basketball coach Dan Earl have agreed on a six-year contract extension that ties him to the program through the 2030-31 season.
UTC announced the new deal Monday morning.
This past season, Earl’s third at UTC, he guided the Mocs to 29 wins, the Southern Conference regular-season title and the National Invitation Tournament championship. It was Mocs’ first national title since winning the NCAA Division II championship in 1977.
He is 68-38 in three seasons at UTC after winning 73 games in seven seasons at Virginia Military Institute, which also competes in the SoCon.
“Dan is a proven commodity,” Mark Wharton, UTC’s athletic director and vice chancellor, said in a university release. “We had great faith in who he was as a leader three years ago around this time when we hired him. That faith has been rewarded well beyond wins and championships. We are excited to get this new agreement completed and reward him and his staff for jobs well done.”
UTC also announced promotions for Ander Galfsky and Scott Greenman from assistant coaches to associate head coaches. In addition, Logan Dahmn moved from special assistant to assistant coach, while Alan Treakle added the title of assistant coach to his current role of director of basketball operations.
