Washington Basketball in the mix for NBA legacy, former 5-star in NCAA Transfer Portal

Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies have put together an impressive transfer portal class, which is ranked No. 10 by 247Sports, but ahead of his second season at his father’s alma mater, the head coach wants more.

In an attempt to put his class over the top, Sprinkle and the Huskies have reportedly reached out to one of the best players in the transfer portal, former five-star recruit and NBA legacy Andrej Stojakovic. The son of three-time NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic, Andrej played his freshman season with the Stanford Cardinal before transferring across the Bay to California for his sophomore season.

The younger Stojakovic, who is ranked as the No. 35 player in the portal by 247Sports, lived up to his legacy with the Golden Bears, averaging 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, which earned him an All-ACC honorable mention and an All-ACC Tournament Team selection after pouring in a career-high 37 points against his former team.

As the Huskies compete with some of the nation’s biggest names for his services, like the defending national champion Florida Gators, along with Gonzaga, North Carolina, and USC, another Big Ten team appears to be in the driver’s seat for his services at the moment.

According to multiple reports, that spot belongs to coach Brad Underwood and the Illinois Fighting Illini, who hosted him on an official visit earlier in the week.

“Illinois would make a lot of sense for Stojakovic,” 247Sports’ Isaac Trotter said on the College Basketball Show. “Illinois may have the best shooting frontcourt in college basketball next year. They have two centers who could shoot and make over 50 three-pointers. That would open up the rim for Stojakovic, where he is terrific. He had a 42% rim rate last year. He got to the rim at will and got to the free throw line. The paint would be wide open for him in Illinois. It makes sense why Stojakovic’s camp likes Illinois and why Illinois likes Stojakovic.”

If the Huskies are able to reel in a commitment from the 6-foot-7 wing, he would round out Sprinkle’s roster and immediately make it one of the best in the Big Ten after Washington finished in last place in 2025 with a 4-16 record in conference play.
