FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – It was a busy night of college basketball across FOX 55 country.
Several of our local Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio schools saw their men’s and women’s programs hit the court Wednesday evening.
WOMEN’S RECAP
In D-III play, #24 Trine defeated Alma 60-38. Sidney Wagner tallied 20 pts & 7 reb for the Thunder.
Manchester gets back to .500 with a 79-70 win over Franklin. The Spartans hand Franklin their 3rd loss of the season.
In NAIA play, #11 Saint Francis advances to 15-1 with an 84-65 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Cougars lone loss of the season came this past Saturday against undefeated Indiana Wesleyan.
Speaking of Indiana Wesleyan, the #2 Wildcats trounced Taylor 81-48. Indiana Wesleyan improves to 16-0 on the season.
Huntington took down Grace 79-65. Bailey Kelham led the Foresters with 28 points, while Liv Raby added 22 points of her own.
#23 Indiana Tech routed Northwestern Ohio on the road, 83-58. The Warriors advance to 12-4 on the season.
Finally, Defiance finds a go-ahead bucket with 20 seconds left en route to a 63-60 victory over Kuyper. Chandler Duncan led the Hornets with 18 points off the bench.
MEN’S RECAP
In D-I action, PFW defeated Milwuakee 78-73 in Horizon League play. Rasheed Bello and Jalen Jackson combined for 58 of PFW’s points tonight. The Dons improve to 12-6 on the season.
In D-III play, #3 Trine defeated Kalamazoo 76-63. The Thunder honored fallen teammate Fred Garland pregame by retiring his jersey into the rafters. Drew Moore led all players with 22 points.
Manchester falls on the road to Franklin, 108-64. The Spartans fall to 1-5 in conference play.
Moving to the NAIA, Saint Francis struggled in a 98-73 home loss against Mount Vernon Nazarene. MVNU shot nearly 50% from three, while USF was just 25% from beyond the arc.
In ranked action, #16 Grace overcame a 9 point halftime deficit to edge past #17 Huntington 70-66. The Lancers improve to 13-3, while the Foresters fall to 12-4.
Taylor squeaks past #22 Indiana Wesleyan, 79-76. Anton Webb had 30 pts and 8 reb for the Trojans, including the go-ahead free throws in the final minute.
Indiana Tech completes the men’s/women’s sweep of Northwestern Ohio with a 90-74 win.
Finally, Defiance goes to overtime and picks up a 76-67 win over Miami-Middletown. The Hornets improve to 5-9 on the season.
