‘We’re praying for him’: Fan who fell 21 feet at PNC Park in critical condition

Kavan Markwood remains in the hospital after the 20-year-old fell from the right-field stands at PNC Park during a Pittsburgh Pirates game on Wednesday night.A GoFundMe has been created to help with his medical bills and other financial hardships.“He’s a tough, resilient young man,” said Walsh University football coach John Fankhauser.Fankhauser said Markwood played for Walsh before transferring to Wheeling University to be closer to home.”We’re praying for him,” Fankhauser said. “Hopefully, he gets through this and back on his feet.”Markwood’s injuries reportedly included fractured vertebrae and a collapsed lung, though full details were unavailable Friday.”The Wheeling University community is heartbroken to hear of the tragedy that occurred at PNC Park involving former Wheeling football player Kavan Markwood,” the university said in a statement. “Kavan is a valued member of our Cardinal Family.
