LSU and Coastal Carolina will face off in Game 1 of the College World Series national championship on Saturday, June 19.

The No. 6 Tigers, fresh off a comeback win over No. 3 Arkansas in the semifinals, will face the red-hot Chanticleers, who haven’t lost in the postseason and are on a 26-game win streak.

Ironically enough, LSU coach Jay Johnson and Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall are the only two coaches in history to reach the national championship in their first season, with Schnall accomplishing the feat in 2025. Johnson did so in 2016 when he faced Coastal Carolina at Arizona, which corresponded with Schnall’s time as an assistant with the Chanticleers.

Both teams will likely trot out its aces on Saturday in Kade Anderson and Jacob Morrison, making for one of the best pitching matchups of the season.
