It’s been a tumultuous year for Texas A&M baseball, the preseason’s No. 1 team.
The Aggies (11-19 SEC in sec play) find themselves needing a run in the vaunted SEC Tournament to make the NCAA baseball tournament this year, thanks to a host of injuries following the departure of Jim Schlossnagle to Texas after the manager brought Texas A&M to within a game of a College World Series title.

Before the Aggies can think about making any kind of run, however, they must start against Mississippi State (15-15 SEC). The Bulldogs, led by Ace Reese and his 1.212 OPS, ended the season on a five-game winning streak, featuring a sweep over Missouri.
Mississippi State finds itself in good shape to make the NCAA Tournament heading into the conference tournament, which could work in the Aggies’ favor. However, it will likely take multiple conference tournament wins to ultimately get Texas A&M into regionals.
