What to know about Marquette men’s basketball: Starters, breakout candidates, tickets

Starters

1 Kam Jones (6-5, Sr. G):The crafty scorer takes over as the focal point of the Golden Eagles’ offense and should be one of the best players in the Big East and an All-American candidate.

2 Chase Ross (6-5, Jr. G): If you are looking for a breakout player, Ross should be the pick. He is healthy after injuries disrupted last season but has shown flashes of his two-way ability.

4 Stevie Mitchell (6-3, Sr. G): He is known for being the consummate glue guy, but Mitchell also should be praised as one of the best perimeter defenders in college basketball.

23 David Joplin (6-8, Sr. F): The Big East sixth man of the year as a sophomore, Joplin became a starter last season and averaged 10.8 points per game.

12 Ben Gold (6-11, Sr. F): In a bigger role this season, Gold brings a different element with his shooting ability as a big man.

Marquette guard Chase Ross is healthy this season after battling injuries in 2023-24.

Key reserves

5 Tre Norman (6-4, So. G): With Sean Jones still rehabbing after an ACL injury, there is an opportunity for Norman to play more minutes as a backup point guard.

7 Zaide Lowery (6-5, So. G): You can point to Lowery as a guy who will make a big leap in production after flashing his “3-and-D” ability as a freshman.

10 Damarius Owens (6-7, Fr. F): A smooth ball-handler with excellent passing vision, Owens already has made a strong case for a spot in the rotation.

13 Royce Parham (6-8, Fr. F):He has uncanny feel for the game, and his versatility makes him an ideal player for MU’s “trigger man” spot on offense.

35 Caedin Hamilton (6-9, Fr. F): After redshirting last season, MU needs Hamilton to add bulk and rebounding to a thin frontcourt.
