What’s new for Florida State in College Football 26?

The reveal trailer for EA Sports’ College Football 26 dropped this morning, and as someone who adored CFB 25, I had to wake up early to watch this. I was hoping to send a message with something like “FLORIDA STATE MENTIONED!!” alongside a screenshot of something Seminoles-related in the trailer. Unfortunately, Florida State was not mentioned in the trailer.

However, after thorough research, I can personally confirm that the Seminoles will, in fact, be in College Football 26.

The main appeal of this year’s release appears to be building off of what fans wanted in CFB 25. Namely, features present in the previous rendition of college football, the NCAA Football series. This included things like being able to see the trophies you have won in dynasty mode. So, if you started at South Florida as an offensive coordinator and won the American Athletic Conference Championship, but took a job at Michigan to win the National Championship, you’d see both those trophies.

The CFB team also mentioned in their blog post that more traditions would be highlighted in the pre-game scenes. Virginia Tech’s Enter Sandman will be in the game this year.

As for Florida State, there is no word on what specific new traditions will be included this year. Osceola and Renegade darting to midfield to plant the spear is almost certain to return once again. I would personally love to see a flyover of some kind in-game, which Florida State has done at several games in the past.

Coaches also make an appearance in more obvious detail, as Ohio State’s Ryan Day can be seen in the promotional material. It remains unclear whether Mike Norvell has signed a similar deal to use his name, image, and likeness in the game. However, EA has said that they have the permission to use “over 300 real-world coaches with true-to-life schemes.” Fans can see coaches such as Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Oregon’s Dan Lanning, and Penn State’s James Franklin.

One feature that fans have been clamoring for is better music. For those unaware, the soundtrack in the menus of College Football 25 used the same three or so drum tracks, and the player base was vocal about it becoming repetitive. Not to worry, though, as in CFB 26, EA is bringing “marching band covers of popular songs to our menus for players to enjoy, as well as fight songs from schools around the country.”

Of course, Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, Jesse Palmer, David Pollack, Desmond Howard, and Rece Davis will be returning in two separate commentary teams for low-stakes and high-stakes games. No word on if they’re going to be mentioning how Florida State went 2-10 last year. Though let’s be fair, it’s probably in the game.

College Football 26 will launch worldwide on July 10, 2025. Watch the full trailer below:
