Where are former Missouri football players now? Tracking Tiger transfers from spring, past years

Where are they now?

The transfer portal has closed, and most teams have finalized their rosters for the 2025 college football season. Missouri football, barring any late surprises, is done with its offseason business.

Twenty-one total players have joined the MU roster for next season, with a good portion of those expected to compete for starting roles, while 25 players have transferred out of the program, per 247Sports.

It’s a lot of movement in and out, and it can be tricky to keep track of where all those former Tigers have landed.

Here’s where all of MU’s spring transfer portal entries and select Tigers from past seasons have landed ahead of the 2025 campaign:

Where have Missouri football’s spring transfers landed?

In the interest of length, this list only includes MU’s spring transfers.

Mizzou’s full list of winter transfers can be found here.

Eddie Kelly Jr., defensive end: Kelly will head to the Big 12 to play for West Virginia under new head coach Rich Rodriguez next season. Kelly previously played for USF and Georgia Tech before Missouri. He had 16 total tackles last season as a member of MU’s edge-rushing rotation.

Jahkai Lang, defensive end: Lang, a Troy product out of St. Louis, heads to SMU after registering three sacks for MU as a redshirt freshman for Mizzou last season. He played a limited role for the Tigers, and was unlikely to see a significant uptick in his playing time in 2025.

Ja’Marion Wayne, cornerback: Wayne is Sun Belt-bound, as he has transferred to Coastal Carolina. Wayne spent three seasons with MU and went through a couple position changes, starting out as a wide receiver before moving to safety and then cornerback.

Talan Chandler, offensive lineman: Chandler, a freshman out of Nevada, Missouri, transferred to Northwestern. The former Colorado commit appeared in one game last season, coming in as a reserve against UMass.

Mikai Gbayor, linebacker: The return of Triston Newson to MU via the NCAA’s JUCO eligibility waiver obscured Gbayor’s path to playing time. He transferred to Missouri from Nebraska in the winter portal window, but now will play for Bill Belichick at North Carolina.

Drew Pyne, quarterback: Pyne was Mizzou’s first spring transfer, and made the move to Bowling Green where he could succeed another former Mizzou QB, Connor Bazelak, as the starting quarterback.

Austyn Dendy, running back: Like Pyne, the rookie tailback has landed at Bowling Green, per a post to the Falcons’ team X account. He switched from safety to running back ahead of the 2024 season.

Joe Moore III, defensive end: Moore is listed on FAU’s roster for the 2025 season, but this is complicated. The defensive end does not have any eligibility remaining. He would need a waiver to compete next season. It’s unclear for what reason or how he would obtain one.

Two former Missouri players who entered the transfer portal in the winter still appear to be without a new team: quarterback Aidan Glover and safety Phillip Roche.

Notable 2024 transfers

Jake Garcia, quarterback: Garcia is moving on again, entering the transfer portal after one season at Eastern Carolina. The former Miami and Missouri quarterback was benched midseason for the Pirates in 2024.

Gabarri Johnson, quarterback: Johnson will be the backup QB for Oregon State next season behind Duke transfer Maalik Murphy. He played as a reserve for the Beavers last season.

Sergine Tounkara, defensive end: Tounkara was a promising edge rusher but was buried in a deep room last spring. He is still at California, where he played sparingly last season but registered 1.5 sacks.

Carmycah Glass, linebacker: Glass is back at the Power-conference level, transferring to Houston from Louisiana this offseason after a 75-tackle season for the Ragin’ Cajuns. His only game time for MU was in the 2022 Gasparilla Bowl.

DJ Wesolak, defensive end: Wesolak, after a year at Oregon State, is back in the Show-Me State, as he has transferred to Missouri State. The Boonville product and former four-star recruit appeared in three games for the Beavers last season.

Other notable former transfers

Arden Walker, defensive end: Walker looks set to start at defensive end for the Buffaloes next season after recording 33 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in 2024.

Ja’Mori Maclin and J.J. Hester, wide receivers: We’re grouping these two former Mizzou wideouts together because they both will spend next season at Kentucky. Maclin transferred to the Wildcats ahead of the 2024 campaign from North Texas, while Hester moved this past winter from Oklahoma.

Tyler Macon, quarterback: Macon is still at Alcorn State, where he transferred after the 2022 season. He appeared in nine games last season, but threw two interceptions in 13 total pass attempts. He had one rushing touchdown.
