Where does Alabama football land in 2025 ESPN post-spring SP+ rankings?

Expectations for Alabama football should be high ahead of the 2025 season, at least, according to ESPN’s SP+ rankings.

Bill Connelly’s SP+ projection model puts a number to the returning production, recent recruiting and recent history of each team in FBS, turning these figures into “a tempo- and opponent adjusted measure of college football efficiency.”

And according to its post-spring practice measurement, the Crimson Tide is near the top of the list.

Alabama has the second-best SP+ nationally behind reigning national champion Ohio State. The Crimson Tide sits ahead of Penn State, Georgia and Texas.

Connelly lists the Crimson Tide having the fifth-best offense and the fifth-best defense according to the SP+ model. Alabama is also helped by returning 64% of its production from 2024, including 69% of its defense from last season.

According to the latest SP+ ranking, Alabama has the No. 11 strength of schedule in college football, just outside of a top-10 that includes LSU (No. 9), South Carolina (No. 7), Florida (No. 2) and Oklahoma (No. 1)
