LSU football watched its recruiting class take a hit with four-star wide receiver Jakai Anderson flipping to SMU, but the Tigers’ 2026 class is still one of the best in the country.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, LSU sits No. 2, only trailing USC.
USC’s placement at No. 1 is largely due to volume. The Trojans already have 28 commits compared to LSU’s nine, but LSU’s average recruit rating of 92.99 is the best in the country. Eight of the Tigers’ nine commits are blue-chip recruits, including two-five stars.
LSU holds a commitment from Tristen Keys, the No. 1-ranked wide receiver in the class. Defensive linemen and Louisiana native Richard Anderson is the headliner on defense.
Given the pedigree of the 2026 core, LSU has a chance to finish with the No. 1 class in the country. Momentum went against the Tigers last week with Anderson’s flip and missing out on corner Hayward Howard, but LSU remains in a great spot. If all goes to plan, this will be the best class of Kelly’s LSU tenure.
