Paige Bueckers hits career-high 40 points in March Madness game vs Oklahoma
UConn star Paige Bueckers reminds media that her teammates helped her reach this career mark. The Huskies will move on to the Elite 8 round of the women’s NCAA tournament.
A marquee matchup of two women’s college basketball powers is the feature attraction Monday night in Spokane, Washington, when the top-seeded Southern Cal takes on second-seeded Connecticut for a spot in the Final Four.
The Women of Troy continue to survive and advance, despite the loss of star guard JuJu Watkins to a season-ending knee injury in a second-round win over Mississippi State. Freshmen Kennedy Smith (19 points) and Avery Howell (18) led the way as USC defeated Kansas State 67-61 to advance to the Regional 4 final.
The Huskies, meanwhile, got a career-high 40 points from Paige Bueckers in cruising to an 82-59 defeat of No. 3 seed Oklahoma. This marks the 18th time in the last 19 seasons that coach Geno Auriemma’s squad has reached the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.
