Quinn Ewers is a polarizing name in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The former No. 1 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class held off phenom Arch Manning for the starting quarterback role for Texas football the last two seasons, leading the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff semifinals in 2024.

Despite his success at the collegiate level, Ewers’ stock in what is generally considered a weaker quarterback class still does not see him rise to one of the top prospects in the draft. While Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are expected to be first-round picks, Ewers could last until Day 2 or 3 of the draft.

Ewers, listed at 6-foot-2, 214 pounds, threw for 3,472 yards in 2024, on top of a career-high 31 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. He threw for 9,128 passing yards, 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions over his career with the Longhorns, also adding eight rushing touchdowns. He began his career with Ohio State before transferring to Texas.

Here’s what you need to know about where Ewers is projected to go in the 2025 NFL Draft, along with which NFL team he best fits with and a scouting report:

Where will Texas’ Quinn Ewers go in 2025 NFL Draft?

Here’s a look at where experts predict Ewers to land:

ESPN’s Matt Miller: Round 2, No. 40 overall to the New Orleans Saints

“Derek Carr will be back in 2025, but there’s a sense around the league that he’s a placeholder while the Saints draft their QB of the future. Ewers has injury concerns, but he did lead the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff semifinals in back-to-back seasons. He’s a touch-and-timing passer who would fit new coach Kellen Moore ‘s offense. Ewers doesn’t add value as a runner and must work at seeing the field faster, but his arm talent and mechanics are fits for a future NFL starter.

The Athletic: Round 3, No. 82 overall to the Seattle Seahawks

Quinn Ewers scouting report

Here’s a scouting report on Ewers from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.

“Ewers’ arm talent and game flashes are enticing, but he hasn’t learned to play the game with a high enough level of consistency. The tape of road wins over Alabama and Michigan over the last two seasons showed the clearest picture of Ewers’ ceiling. He spins it with a sudden release and good touch over the first two levels and makes it look easy when he finds a rhythm. He won a high percentage of his career starts but struggled to put points on the board in most big games in 2024. Ewers rarely operates as a smooth, full-field reader.”

Quinn Ewers’ best 2025 NFL Draft fit

According to CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell, the Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and the Vegas Raiders profile as the best fits for Ewers. He would likely be a backup with the Seahawks (Sam Darnold), Dolphins (Tua Tagovailoa), Cowboys (Dak Prescott) and Raiders (Geno Smith).

However, with Saints’ starter Derrick Carr dealing with a shoulder injury threatening his availability, Ewers could have a chance to compete for a starting spot in New Orleans.
