Which SEC program has the most players in the College Football Hall of Fame?

The College Football Hall of Fame’s roster includes 107 players from the SEC, and the next set of candidates who could expand that number will be known on Monday, when the National Football Foundation releases the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026.

With 24 apiece, Oklahoma and Tennessee are the SEC programs with the most players in the College Football Hall of Fame. But the Sooners haven’t contributed any of the conference’s total of 107.

Oklahoma didn’t play its first SEC season until 2024, so none of the Sooners’ Hall of Famers ever appeared in an SEC game.

Twenty of Tennessee’s 24 Hall of Famers played in the SEC. The careers of the other four predate the SEC’s first football season in 1933.

The number of players in the College Football Hall of Fame from each current SEC program, along with the class of the most recent enshrinee:

  • Alabama: 18 SEC and four non-SEC (2024)
  • Arkansas: One SEC and eight non-SEC (2019)
  • Auburn: Eight SEC and one non-SEC (2025)
  • Florida: Nine SEC and one non-SEC (2023)
  • Georgia: 14 SEC and two non-SEC (2022)
  • Kentucky: Six SEC and zero non-SEC (2024)
  • LSU: 10 SEC and one non-SEC (2022)
  • Mississippi State: Two SEC and zero non-SEC (2001)
  • Missouri: Zero SEC and seven non-SEC (2003)
  • Oklahoma: Zero SEC and 24 non-SEC (2022)
  • Ole Miss: 10 SEC and zero non-SEC (2025)
  • South Carolina: Zero SEC and two non-SEC (2014)
  • Tennessee: 20 SEC and four non-SEC (2025)
  • Texas: Zero SEC and 23 non-SEC (2025)
  • Texas A&M: Zero SEC and 11 non-SEC (2019)
  • Vanderbilt: One SEC and four non-SEC (1970)

The original members of the SEC account for all but one of the conference’s players in the College Football Hall of Fame. The exception is Arkansas running back Darren McFadden. The Razorbacks and South Carolina joined the league in 1992.

Between that expansion and the addition of Oklahoma and Texas last season, the SEC added Missouri and Texas A&M in 2012. The most recent of the SEC’s Hall of Fame contingent to play for his league school are Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Tennessee safety Eric Berry in 2009.

Here’s a breakdown of the SEC’s Hall of Famers by school, including players and coaches. It also includes players and coaches from before the formation of the SEC for the league’s original members and non-SEC Hall of Famers for the conference’s more recent additions. Players and coaches who straddle the pre-SEC and SEC eras are listed under SEC.
