Will Ohio State football host Lee Corso’s final appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — ESPN’s College GameDay will be on site for Ohio State football’s season-opening matchup vs. Texas on Aug. 30.

The occasion will mark a full-circle moment for analyst Lee Corso.

His final appearance on the popular pregame show will be in Columbus — the site of his first headgear pick.

In 1996, before a game between Ohio State and Penn State, Corso put on Brutus Buckeye’s headgear as his way of picking who will win the game.

It sparked a decades-long tradition, with each pick signaling the start of a new slate of college football games.

The game between OSU and Texas will mark College GameDay’s 26th appearance in Columbus, extending the program’s record. This will also be the fifth all-time meeting between Ohio State and Texas featured on the show, with the teams splitting the four previous such meetings.

A guest picker for the game has not yet been announced.
