Zach Thompson gives his top 25 wide receivers for Week 9 for the 2024 NFL season.
It was a Sunday Night Football showcase for CeeDee Lamb against the 49ers in Week 8, as the Cowboys came back off their bye week and relied heavily on Lamb. Despite his team’s loss, Lamb finished as the top receiver of the week with Monday’s results still pending. Ladd McConkey was the only other receiver with more than 30 fantasy points this week, as he also snagged two scores with over 100 yards in the Chargers’ win over the Saints.
With just the Steelers and 49ers on bye weeks, 30 teams are scheduled to be in action for Week 9 with 12 games Sunday afternoon in addition to the Thursday, Sunday and Monday primetime matchups.
Several big-name WR have juicy matchups this week, and the Miami receivers are viable again after getting their QB back last week. The Rams receivers are also back in the mix after returning from their injuries last Thursday. Now, the major injury situations to watch this week are in the AFC South where the Jaguars and Texans are both potentially dealing with shakeups on their depth chart after big Week 8 injuries.
As a whole, the top 25 is a very crowded place this week. Here is how I’d rank the top 25 WRs to start in Week 9:

- DK Metcalf (vs. LAR) if he’s healthy
- Chris Olave (at CAR) lower if Derek Carr is not back
- Tank Dell (at NYJ)
- Garrett Wilson (vs. HOU)
- Zay Flowers (vs. DEN)
- DeVonta Smith (vs. JAC)
- Calvin Ridley (vs. NE)
- Marvin Harrison Jr. (vs. CHI)
- Amari Cooper (vs. MIA)
- Jaylen Waddle (at BUF)
- Cedric Tillman (vs. LAC)
- Jakobi Meyers (at CIN)
