In the exciting world of baseball, every so often there is room to ask, who are the best or which team would most players like to play for. Some teams are more popular than others, some have more history, others have a better present and that is why it is worth asking the question of which is the most attractive team for an MLB player.
The doubt was resolved, as an anonymous survey for MLB players conducted by The Athletic was recently published, which showed which is the most popular team, or in other words, the one that everyone would like to go and play for and has the best reputation in the league.
The survey conducted by Levi Weaver and Ken Rosenthal directly addressed players’ perceptions of MLB organizations. The initial question was, “Which organizations have a good or bad reputation among players?” The team that came out on top by a landslide was the Dodgers.
The California franchise garnered overwhelming support, with 82 votes in favor of a “good” reputation and what also drew quite a bit of attention was that they had zero negative votes, something that reaffirms the importance and relevance of the team throughout the country and has it at the top in terms of prestige.
Teams want to win and they give everything to the players
Players want to go to the Dodgers
This overwhelming success of the Dodgers in the perception of the players is no coincidence and finds its roots in a well-defined strategy, marked by bold economic investment and the construction of a culture oriented towards victory. The team has not skimped on investment and year after year they seek to keep the best players in MLB and that gives them even more prestige.
“Teams want to win and they give everything to the players,” commented one of the players who participated in the anonymous survey, which reaffirms that investment in talent, coupled with a strong infrastructure and a positive team environment, created a virtuous circle that attracts the best and reinforces its position as the most desirable franchise.
What Happened to the Yankees?
The other side of the coin in this survey is the New York Yankees, one of the most historic franchises in the MLB industry. Although the Yankees ranked second on the list of teams with a good reputation, the gap with the Dodgers was noticeable and somewhat surprising to some. The Yankees received 40 positive votes and three negative votes, figures that, although they position them positively, are far from the impeccable record of the Dodgers
The Yankees received a very large distance of positive votes compared to the Dodgers and that generated noise within the team. This result does represent a wake-up call for the Yankees’ management. While teams such as the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs, who received fewer positive votes, managed to keep their negative vote count at zero, the Yankees received three and that did not leave them very happy.
