The Yavapai Baseball team participated in a double-header vs. visiting Arizona Christian University at a home game in Prescott, AZ. The Roughriders dominated the Firestorm, as they won 2-0, scoring 44 total runs in two games!

Game 1
The first game of the afternoon finished with a score of 15-5.
3 runs were scored by both Liam Richards and Justin Cherrington, 2 by Kevin Ramos, and 1 by Matthew Peterson, AJ Diaz, Nathan Nichols, Caleb Horsey, Dalton Irwin, Brady Francisco, and Jackson Schofield. Cherrington batted in 5 of those runners, and no home runs were scored in this game nor the next.
Ramos and Richards each stole a base.
Traig Oughton, coming off having a no-hitter vs. Community Christian last weekend, pitched just 3 innings and had 4 strikeouts. Griffen Clapp had two K’s in one inning.
Francisco had 6 putouts, while Peterson and Cherrington had 3 apiece. Peterson, Diaz, and Cherrington each had a double play, and Francisco caught runners stealing twice.
Game 2
This game lasted 5 innings and Yavapai would win it 19-0, completely shutting down the Prospect Red.
Brady Francisco ran in for 3, with 2 for Reid Hurtt, Matthew Peterson, Carson Feddema, Kevin Ramos, Nathan Nichols, and Justin Cherrington. AJ Diaz, Lucas Franz, Caleb Horsey, and Derek Kiepke each ran in for 1. Diaz batted in 3, with Ramos and Cherrington for 2, and 1 from Hurtt, Peterson, Feddema, Franz, Horsey, Irwin, Francisco, and Schofield.
Ramos stole 2 bases, and Nichols and Cherrington each stole 1.
Collin Adams had an impressive start to his pitching day, facing 10 batters and striking out 5 of them. He also only allowed one hit in his 3 innings pitched. Payton Pudenz and Carter Boone each also had pitched for 1 inning and had 1 strikeout each.
Lucas Franz had 6 putouts, with Kiepke having 2.

The Roughriders play another double-header next Tuesday, February 25th, against Ottawa University Arizona. First pitch is at 12 PM, then Game 2 starts at 2:30 PM.
